Things I Love Thursdays (TILT #2)

Dr. Bronners Magic Soap

Religious propaganda on the bottle aside, this stuff is awesome.

Use it as soap, shampoo, laundry detergent, what have you... it's amazing. Since most of the ingredients are natural oils - it leaves your skin (and I assume your laundry) feeling moisturized and refreshed.

Ingredients:
Water, Organic Coconut Oil*, Potassium Hydroxide**, Lavandin Extract, Organic Olive Oil*, Organic Hemp Oil, Organic Jojoba Oil, Organic Lavender Oil, Citric Acid, Tocopherol.

In case you were wondering about the two ingredients you couldn't recognize- Tocopherol is a class of organic compound that contains vitamin E activity and soaps using potassium hydroxide are softer than those using sodium hydroxide because they are more soluble and use less water to liquefy.

Things I Love Thursdays (TILT #1)

After moving from Houston to a campsite in Australia, I was seriously at a loss how to continue my (very minimal) yoga practice. I have a love-hate relationship with yoga. I love what it does for my body and mind, and I hate how it makes me feel in terms of my general flexibility and strength.

However, my love for it far outweighs my ego, so I looked for apps on the iPhone that would help me continue learning. I hit the jackpot with the Yoga studio app at a steal for $2.99. This app gives you a variety of preset classes, ranging from 15 minutes to an hour, skill levels from beginner to advanced, and yoga options for relaxation, strength and flexibility.

On top of all of these wondrous options, you also have the option to create your own classes by selecting from their library of poses and allowing the app to select poses that "link" to the poses you have chosen.
What this did for me, was it allowed me to create the most slothful 46 minute yoga set consisting of several corpses, reverse corpses and child's poses. Honestly, it's pretty much nap time with a little bit of stretching.

The only negative part to creating your own yoga class is that it doesn't tell you how to get to one pose from the other so if you're not familiar with the pose they are calling out, you have to watch the girl in the video (and she's so pretty and flexible, I try not to look at her at all if I can help it).

Lastly, this app allows you to download these classes to your device and because they "stitch" the videos together, they are usually only a few MB's in size. And because you get to download these videos, you can watch them at anytime and not have to rely on wifi connections.

Prague Highlights Day 2

Day 2 of Prague was spent enjoying the sunshine, doing loads of walking, visiting the Jewish sites (traveler tip- lines at the bookstore are much, much shorter than the museum. I bought a pass that allowed access to the Jewish museum, cemetery and Pinkas synagogue), soaking in the beautiful atmosphere and ending the trip with a FaceTime lunch at cafe with my sister, some goulash and some Czech beer. It was a beautiful day!

A tribute to those who lost their lives in the Terrezine concentration camps

It is said the Jewish history in Prague was perfectly preserved because Hitler planned on using it as documentation of an "extinct race".
The cemetery

When the Jewish citizens of Prague ran out of space to bury their dead, and purchasing more land was not allowed to them, they placed layers of soil on the existing graves and placed the tombstones upon the new layers of soil as Jewish custom does not permit the destruction of graves or tombstones. This is why the tombstones are placed so closely together, to account for the number of graves in the cemetery. It is estimated that there are approximately 100,000 people buried in the cemetery (only 12,000 or so tombstones are visible) which has 12 layers of graves.

Technology makes distances seem so small :)

Looks WAY better than it tasted, unfortunately.

Ahoj! (Goodbye in Czech)
